    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns academy product Keletso Makgalwa has endured a career filled with ups and downs since making his debut against Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) in the 2017/18 season.

He played 37 matches in all competitions for Masandawana before being loaned out to multiple clubs, including Maritzburg United, TS Galaxy, All Stars, Moroka Swallows, and Upington City.

It was at Bafana ba Gucci where he rediscovered his form, scoring crucial goals that led to Babina Noko securing his services. Since joining the Limpopo-based outfit, the 28-year-old has not disappointed, scoring five goals in 22 appearances.

His performances have been key for his team, and he continues to grow under the guidance of coach Lehlohonolo Seema. The Sekhukhune coach has acknowledged Makgalwa’s transformation, praising his work ethic and determination. The coach also spoke to GOAL about how the player has made the most of his opportunity at the club.

    WHAT SEEMA SAID

“I think he is the guy that, one of the few that realized there are mistakes before and when you are a youngster and then you start getting higher, that as quickly as you are talented, you are,” the 44-year-old coach told GOAL.

Seema highlighted Makgalwa’s renewed focus and dedication, stating, “He’s one of the few that is using his, I don’t want to say second chance, but he’s using his time now very well. He’s looking after himself. He’s training very hard. He’s helping the team.”

He also expressed gratitude to the clubs that played a role in Makgalwa’s resurgence, particularly Upington City, saying, “And we must also thank the teams that gave him a chance, you know, like Upington (City) because we, we found him a bit active,” concluded Seema.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With three league goals and eight assists, Makgalwa has become one of the most influential players for Babina Noko. His impact is evident, as the club currently sits third in the league with 31 points, trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 17 points.

His outstanding form has earned him three Man of the Match awards, showing the trust the coach has placed in him. He has also been given the freedom to express himself on the field, which has significantly contributed to his performances. However, he faces stiff competition from the likes of Shaun Mogaila and Katlego Otladisa, which will push him to maintain his high standards.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SEKHUKHUNE?

Sekhukhune United will next face Mamelodi Sundowns, hoping to close the gap at the top. Masandawana have been dominant, and Seema's side will aim to disrupt their momentum. Makgalwa will be a key figure as Babina Noko look for a statement victory. The attacker will be eager to prove himself against his former club. Seema will be counting on his forward line to capitalise on every opportunity and avoid a season double against Sundowns.
