    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Morata explained that the "painful" decision came about as their relationship deteriorated over "continuous misunderstandings that little by little wear things down", before later swearing that he "never cheated on her". Campello, meanwhile, confirmed that there had been no infidelity behind the split and said that "immaturity" and "instability" were factors in the divorce.

  • THE GOSSIP

According to Spanish journalist Alexia Rivas, the tension between the two reached its pinnacle when they had an argument on the field as Morata and his La Roja team-mates celebrated their latest success. Rivas says that Campello only wanted herself, Morata, their children and her friends to be on the field for the festivities, demanding the player's parents and family be left out, which set of an explosion in the marriage. The journalist adds that there are no signs the pair could reconcile and that lawyers are currently working on their divorce papers.
