    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While most of the team grappled with nerves ahead of their crucial clash against France, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal chose a very different approach to deal with the pressure - he took a nap while on the way to the stadium. Williams was surprised by the teenager’s relaxed demeanour and expressed his disbelief during an interview in the documentary.

  • WHAT WILLIAMS SAID

"We were going to play a semi-final of a European Championship. I was scared shitless and he was... asleep!" Williams said.

"But this kid, how can he fall asleep before such an important match?"

Despite his calm exterior, Yamal played a decisive role in the match, scoring a stunning equaliser from outside the box that set the stage for Spain’s 2-1 victory over France, with Dani Olmo firing the second.
