England’s Euro 2025 champions were celebrated across EFL grounds this weekend, with fans and players paying tribute to Chloe Kelly, Hannah Hampton and other Lionesses after their historic victory over Spain. The squad, fresh from their Basel triumph, received a warm welcome across the country.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot, Lionesses manager Sarina Wiegman and Paris Saint-Germain's Luis Enrique are among the prominent nominees for the Johan Cruyff awards that will be given away at the 2025 Ballon d'Or. Both Chelsea coaches, Enzo Maresca and Sonia Bompastor, have been nominated as well, along with Barcelona's Hansi Flick, who inspired the Blaugranas to a domestic treble.
Chloe Kelly is still soaking in England’s Euro 2025 glory, with the Arsenal forward hosting a massive street party in her hometown of Hanwell to cap off a stunning summer. After netting the winning penalty in the final, the Lionesses star joined friends and family to celebrate her heroics in style — even breaking out her dance moves for the cameras.
England midfielder Ella Toone revealed that her beloved grandmother, whom she affectionately called “Nana Maz,” passed away on the morning of the Euro 2025 final against Spain. She played 87 minutes in the final before being substituted, delivering a typically industrious performance as England fought to defend their European crown following a 1-1 draw in regular time.
England will face Women's Asian Cup winners China in a meeting of continental champions at Wembley in November. The friendly match will serve as a perfect rehearsal for Sarina Wiegman's side ahead of the 2027 Women's World Cup qualifiers, which begin in February. The Lionesses won the 2025 European Championship by beating Spain on penalties in the final.
Sarina Wiegman danced and sang with her "favourite artist" Burna Boy during England's Euro 2025 celebrations outside Buckingham Palace. The Dutch coach guided the Lionesses to their second successive European Championship title, with world champions Spain dispatched in the final.
Football Association (FA) chief executive Mark Bullingham has offered a guarded response regarding Sarina Wiegman's long-term future as England boss following the Lionesses' dramatic Euro 2025 final triumph over Spain. While Wiegman remains under contract through the 2027 World Cup, there is no confirmation yet about her plans beyond that tournament.
