Two-goal hero Kamohelo Mokotjo ecstatic after inspiring Brentford to victory over Rotherham United

South Africa international Kamohelo Mokotjo was pleased to have inspired his English club Brentford FC to victory on Saturday evening.

The central midfielder grabbed a brace as the Bees secured a 4-2 win over Rotherham United in an English Football League (EFL) Championship match at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

"Yeah, I am very happy mostly for the team. It was a good collective effort. We had to grind it out for the result. Rotherham put a lot of pressure on us," Mokotjo said on Brentford TV.

The former SuperSport United Academy player was making his 21st league appearance of the season,

"They are good at playing their game with their long balls and getting physical in the air. So, it was a difficult game, but it feels good to get a win like this one," he continued.

"My second goal was perfect. it represents what Brentford is all about. Hopefully, we can produce such magic until the season ends," the 27-year-old player added.

Mokotjo insisted that he was not thinking of grabbing a hat-trick before he was substituted in the 88th minute.

"No, I am not really one for goals. I accepted the coach's decision. I think we had already finished the game," Mokotjo said.

"So, for me, a hat-trick or no hat-trick as long as I contribute well to the team and I play my part that is the most important thing," he explained.

The former FC Twente and Feyenoord defensive midfielder has established himself as a key player in the Bees squad under Danish coach Thomas Frank.

"I am very pleased. I have worked really hard to put myself in the team. We are making good progress," he added.

"We should keep the same level. That is what separates the teams at the top and the ones at the bottom in any league," he concluded.

It was the Bees' first away league win of the season and the victory also moved the team further away from the relegation zone.
