Serge Aurier and Dani Alves 'are equal', says PSG's Meunier

Thomas Meunier has said he sees Serge Aurier and Dani Alves as equals.

Last season, Aurier played alongside the Belgium international at Paris Saint-Germain as both players competed for a starting berth in the right-back position.

In the summer, the Parisians secured the signature of Alves; a deal which culminated in the departure of the 24-year-old to English Premier League outfit Tottenham for a fee around £23 million.

And Meunier said he rates the Ivory Coast international on the same level as his new teammate.

"For me, Serge and Dani are equal," Meunier told L'Equipe.

"Dani has experience and he is a leader on the pitch."

However, Aurier has endured a start-stop life at Spurs after he got sent off in his full league debut against West Ham at the back of an impressive Uefa Champions League bow for Mauricio Pochettino’s men against Borussia Dortmund.

While his former teammate Meunier continues to struggle for game time as 34-year-old Alves has restricted him to just four French Ligue 1 outings.
