Brisbane Roar vice-chairman Chris Fong admits they are holding off appointing their next coach due to a lack of clarity over how much they can invest into the club.
It's now been over four months since John Aloisi departed Brisbane with Darren Davies serving as interim coach.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has been strongly linked to taking on the position long-term with Davies also apparently still in the running.
With Roar's season all but over as they languish in ninth, the club looks likely to see out the season without naming their next coach with Fong revealing mystery surrounding A-League budgets has made them delay the appointment.
"There will be a decision made before June, that’s for sure but we need more clarity on the budgets we’ll have available and exactly how much we’ll be able to invest before we act," Fong told The World Game.

"Right now we simply don’t have that."
That lack of clarity comes in the wake of the New Leagues Working Group submitting a 70-page report to the FFA on the future of football in Australia with Fong adamant the A-League model must change to allow for growth and more sustainable investment.
Brisbane's delayed decision on a new coach, however, does the club no favours on the pitch with key players like Eric Bautheac and Matt McKay set to decide their Roar futures in coming months.
“None of the guys know what’s happening - it’s difficult,” McKay said.
"A lot of those guys are young, they’ve got long careers ahead of them and they want to know what’s happening.
“Everyone’s playing for a reason. Whether they’re playing for a contract at our club, playing for a contract at another club, playing for three points."
McKay could be tempted to retire, while Bautheac has reportedly already held talks with Melbourne Victory.
