I-league 2018-19: William Opoku rejoins Minerva Punjab

Minerva Punjab midfielder William Opoku Asiedu has extended his stay at the club for the 2018-19 I-League season, Goal can confirm.

There were doubts about the future of the Ghanian midfielder but the player has rejoined the defending champions and started pre-season training under newly appointed head coach Sachin Badadhe.

The defending champions have already roped in forwards Yu Kuboki and Philip Njoku.  Opoku will help the champions to retain the stability in their midfield following the departures of key players of the title-winning squad.

Bhutanese sensation Chencho Gyeltshen joined Bengaluru FC and while Kamalpreet Singh and Rakshit Dagar joined East Bengal, left winger Abhishek Ambekar, striker Moinuddin Khan and defender Sukhdev Singh have joined Mohun Bagan.

Former National Football League (NFL) winning coach Sukhwinder Singh was also appointed as the technical director of the club ahead of the 2018-19 season.
