Former South Africa captain Lucas Radebe has backed Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter ahead of the team's crucial clash with Libya.
Bafana are set to take on Libya's Meditteranean Knights in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier away next month.
“I expect us to get all three points, I think we have the talent,” Radebe said on The Citizen.
The 1996 Afcon champions have to avoid a defeat in order to qualify for the continental tournament which will be hosted by Egypt.
“I think the boys will be physically and mentally fit, they know what is at stake," the former Kaizer Chiefs player continued.
Baxter recently stated that he would resign if he could not qualify Bafana for the competition which will be held between June and July.
Radebe defended Baxter, who failed to guide South Africa to the 2006 and 2018 Fifa World Cups.
“I don’t know the relationship he has with management or the association … obviously, he knows why he is saying that, but it would be disappointing to see him stepping down,” he said.
“I know there is a lot of expectation, but for me, it is about the future of football in the country," Radebe added.
"You have to build a team … it is not only about the results, but about making sure the team plays well, and that there is a succession plan where the structures are right," he concluded.
The match is likely to be played in Tunisia which is a neutral venue for Libya’s home matches due to civil war in their own country.
