Ghana defender Opare eyes Kenya scalp in 2019 Afcon qualifier

Ghana defender Daniel Opare believes the Black Stars have the men to defeat Kenya in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group F qualifier at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the absence of captain Asamoah Gyan, the Ayew brothers, John Boye and Wakaso Mubarak, Opare is upbeat that Ghana will obtain a good result.

"We're here [in Kenya] to make everybody back home proud by getting the three points," Opare told Fifa/Caf Confederation Cup Liaison Team communications director Dan Kwaku Yeboah in an interview.

"We have the players and training has been wonderful. It has been good for a couple of days now and as you can see, we're getting ready for the match. I think everybody is focused and that's the most important thing right now.

"New players have been added to the team but we're all Ghanaians and everyone is doing well at his club side that's why we've gotten the opportunity. We're like brothers and one family so everything is moving on well for us," he added.

Opare also admitted his happiness to have Inter Milan midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah back in the team after a four-year absence.

"I know Kwadwo [Asamoah] way back, he is a fantastic guy. He is a good player and for him to come back to the national team, I think he will have a great impact on the team. So we are happy to welcome him back," he said.
