Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has refused to rule out a potential swoop for former Bidvest Wits striker Amr Gamal.
The Egypt international joined the Students on loan from Al Ahly on the premise of great expectations at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, but despite a bright start to proceedings, where he guided Wits to a Telkom Knockout Cup triumph, his South African adventure would be cut short as he was deemed surplus to requirements by Gavin Hunt.
The 26-year-old would eventually pack his bags and make a move to Finland to join HJK Helsinki after just 13 Premier Soccer league (PSL) appearances for the Braamfontein-based outfit.
Gamal has since only played 329 minutes of football, but this has done little to deter the Masandawana mentor who seems keen on the player after recently watching Gamal claim the Telkom Knockout Cup Player of the Tournament award at the annual PSL Awards.
Mosimane is likely to lose both Khama Billiat and Percy Tau in the off-season and this could see him pursue his interest in the striker as he looks to bolster his attacking department.

“We’ll see, he is a good player, you have to manage him well,” Mosimane was quoted as saying by Phakaaathi.
“He is North African, you know the mentality, you saw the fights with him and Gavin (Hunt). He reminds me of Eric Cantona… and if you have a player like that you have to accept the way he is and make sure the team also love to be seeing him,” he added.
Mosimane though, remains cautious about bringing Gamal to Chloorkop as he explains that it will depend on how he will fit in with the rest of the team.
“If the team can accept him, he is the kind of player we have to look at. But otherwise… maybe not. It is the team chemistry… You can sign good players but you must make them play together.”
