Indian U17 national team have comprehensively defeated Spain's Alcala 11-0 on Saturday as part of their exposure tour to Europe in preparation for the FIFA U17 World Cup, with Ninthoi Meetei doing the star turn with four goals.
AD Complutense Alcala football academy were overwhelmed by the Indian colts right from the word go as Shubham Sarangi shot just wide of the goal as early as in the second minute.
The Indian boys have enjoyed a couple of morale-boosting results of late it showed when they took the lead in the eighth minute through Abhijit Sarkar.
From then on it was a flurry of goals as Ninthoi went on the rampage. The Manipuri winger scored India's second in the 19th minute before adding two more before halftime to notch a hat-trick. Abhijit Sarkar bagged his brace as well as India finished the half 6-0 ahead.
The script was much the same in the second half too with star man Komal Thatal getting in on the act before Rahim Ali and Amarjit scored two goals each to complete an emphatic result.
Though the opposition were just an academy team, the nature of the win should provide encouragement to Luis Norton's boys.
