Blame me for Kaizer Chiefs' poor season not Arthur Zwane - insists new SuperSport United midfielder Nange

  • Nange was a Chiefs player for two seasons
  • Was among the players released
  • Nange disappointed with his stint at Amakhosi

WHAT HAPPENED: Nange had a good spell with former teams Black Leopards, Bidvest Wits, and Stellenbosch but flopped at Chiefs.

It explains why he was among the players released in the ongoing transfer window by the Amakhosi technical team.

The midfielder concedes he did not meet the expectations, and exuded confidence things will be different at SuperSport United.

Former head coach Zwane, who was relegated to deputize Molefi Ntseki, has been blamed for failing to deliver silverware, but Nange's confession means the players struggled as well.

WHAT HE SAID: "I wouldn’t say I’m happy with my stay at Chiefs if I didn’t win anything," Nange told SNL24.

"I wanted to win something with Kaizer Chiefs, but nevertheless it’s gone and I am the one to blame. I would rather point at myself than look for someone to blame, I am the one to blame.

"But I have to look forward and hope to do well in my new team. But I really appreciate everything that happened on that side, I enjoyed everything," he added.

"Thanks to the chairman [Dr. Kaizer Motaung], Kaizer Chiefs management, team doctors, technical staff, players, guys who cut the grass, and those who prepared food for us."

THE BIGGER PICTURE: After joining Amakhosi from Stellenbosch at the beginning of the 2021/22 season, the midfielder played 24 Premier Soccer League matches but last campaign was not a good one for the 31-year-old whereby he managed just three appearances.

Nange is expected to be a key player for SuperSport United next season. Gavin Hunt's team will be playing in the Caf Confederation Cup next season and pushing for the Premier Soccer League.
