Bafana Bafana speculation is tiring, says Bidvest Wits coach Hunt

Bafana Bafana are still without a coach almost three months after Shakes Mashaba was sacked by the South African Football Associattion (Safa).

Carlos Queiroz and Herve Renard were the favourites to take over from Mashaba, while Gavin Hunt’s name has constantly been mentioned.

The 52-year-old is arguably one of South Africa’s most decorated coaches and many believe he deserves the nod.

However, Hunt has continued to downplay reports linking him to Bafana's top job. He reiterated that he hasn't spoken to anyone at Safa about the vacant position.

"It’s no distraction at all,” Hunt told the media.

"Obviously they (Safa) are going about things their own way,” Hunt said.

“No one has ever spoken to me about the job, so it not a distraction although the speculation can be tiring,” he added.

Stuart Baxter is reportedly Safa's preferred candidate as they appear to have given up on both Queiroz and Renard, but the SuperSport United coach has distanced himself from the reports.
