    DREAM DEBUT

Kaizer Chiefs loanee Xolani Cossa registered a dream debut in the Botswana Premier League after he scored the winning goal for Black Lions against Matebele FC on Saturday at the Royal Aria Stadium in Gaborone.

This goal is significant for both Xolani, given that he registered it in his first game, and for Black Lions, who won their first match this season.

    BAFANA LEGEND HUMBLED

As Xolani and his coach, Owen Da Gama, a former Orlando Pirates tactician, celebrate their symbolic victory, Reneilwe Letsholonyane is left humbled.

The Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend was taking charge of his first game since he was appointed by Matebele FC, and he ended up losing as his compatriots masterminded his defeat.

BEGINNING OF A BETTER SEASON FOR XOLANI?

The goal and the win are generally expected to motivate the 22-year-old left-centre-back who just joined Black Lions during the FIFA international break.

For Da Gama, he hopes the first win of the season will inspire his team after a faulty start in the campaign.

Da Gama was brought on board by the ambitious Botswana side, and he is expected to build a competitive side that will challenge the league's traditional heavyweights.

    IS NABI TAKING NOTES?

Xolani was released on a season-long loan to gain experience elsewhere. At Chiefs, he would have struggled for regular minutes, given that more defenders are fighting for the same spot on the team.

The expected return of Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley, and even Aden McCarthy was going to complicate matters for Xolani further.

However, in Botswana, he is expected to play more games, and it is upon him to get better and raise his profile so that he can return to Naturena a refined defender.
