    WHAT HAPPENED?

Fiorentina remain interested USWNT midfielder Weston McKennie, although a potential move would depend on other transfers, ESPN reported Tuesday. The club would like to seal a permanent move for McKennie, but funds would need to be raised, with Nico Gonzalez's potential move to Juventus among those that could help.

Fiorentina have already signed several players this summer, including David de Gea, Moise Kean and Amir Richardson, a youth star for Morocco the son of former NBA star Michael Ray Richardson.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

McKennie, who has also been linked to Aston Villa, Everton and FC Cincinnati, has been left out of Juventus' squad for preseason friendlies as new coach Thiago Motta shakes up the squad. This comes just one year after McKennie had to re-earn his place in the Juve team following a disastrous spell at Leeds, which he did despite returning to the club to find his parking space and locker gone.

The American featured in 38 games in all competitions for Juve last season, starting initially as a right-wingback before reclaiming his spot in midfield.
