    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Orlando Pirates forward Katlego Mashego has pointed out Bucs' weaknesses that Stellenbosch FC can exploit during the MTN8 final duel.

Although Mashego believes that the Maroons can upset Bucs, he is alive to the fact that the Soweto giants have been dominant in this competition, and that could give them an edge.

    WHAT MASHEGO SAID

“Certain things can go your way, or a silly mistake can mess things up for you. For Stellenbosch, certain things were wrong last season when they lost the final, and I’m sure they learned some important lessons from that," Mashego told FARPost.

"But now they face Pirates, who haven’t been consistent and convincing. The biggest thing now for Pirates is that they are in the final," he added.

“They eliminated Sundowns, and that is a big thing; it gives them a little bit of a push and boost. Stellenbosch also have a big chance, and we shouldn’t rule them out.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

This season's MTN8 final is a rematch of what fans experienced at the same stage of this competition last season.

While Pirates are hoping to win the cup again, Stellies are looking forward to ending Bucs' dominance in this competition.

Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is under considerable pressure given that his predecessor, Jose Riveiro, lifted three straight MTN8 trophies, and he ought to defend it lest he face more criticism.

For Steve Barker, he hopes his side wins to exact revenge on their rivals who controversially won the cup last time out.
