Orlando Pirates Sports Club were relegated from the&nbsp;Namibian Premiership for the first time after losing 2-0 to African Stars this past weekend.&nbsp;Nicknamed the Buccaneers, Pirates accumulated 26 points from 30 matches which saw the team finish 15th in a 16-team league&nbsp;standings.Therefore, the Buccaneers are among the bottom three teams that have been demoted to the country's First Division.&nbsp;

WHAT HAPPENED?

The&nbsp;club was established in 1963 in Katutura a township of Windhoek - the capital city of Namibia.&nbsp;The name Orlando Pirates SC was proposed by Namibian students, Erkie&nbsp;Claasen and Harald Sam, who were studying in South Africa at the time.In 1990, the Buccaneers became the first team to win the newly established Namibia Premiership and they clinched another league title in 2008.

Robert Nauseb, Riaan Hanamub and Theophilus 'Ronaldo' Tsowaseb are some of the former Orlando Pirates SC players who have plied their trade in the PSL or NFD.Nauseb was on the books of Pirates between 1993 and 1994 before going on to turn out for Kaizer Chiefs, Hellenic, Bloemfontein Celtic, Ajax Cape Town, Santos as well as Ikapa Sporting in Mzansi.Meanwhile, AmaZulu FC star&nbsp;Hanamub was snapped up by Jomo Cosmos directly from Pirates in 2018 and he has since had a two-year stint with Chippa United.Tsowaseb, on the other hand, was signed by Soweto giants Pirates from their Namibian namesake in January 2014 and he later moved to Chippa after an unsuccessful six months&nbsp;with Bucs.

FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES SC PLAYERS IN SA 

Orlando Pirates SC will soon start preparations for Namibia's Southern Stream First Division and they will be keen to bounce back to the elite league by securing promotion next season.Meanwhile, Jose Riveiro's Pirates are in the Mother City where they are scheduled to take on Cape Town City in a crucial PSL encounter on Wednesday.
