    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns played Esperance in the second leg of the Caf Champions League quarter-finals, and forced a goalless draw to emerge a 1-0 aggregate win.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Apart from the Caf Champions League, Sundowns hope to win their eighth Premier Soccer League title in a row.

They are also in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, hoping to go all the way and win it after losing the final last season to Orlando Pirates.

Some critics have been questioning the quality of Masandawana, questioning their depth and attitude to be crowned.

Williams has now warned those writing his team off, especially after their continental exploits.

    WHAT WILLIAMS SAID

“This is massive for the club and for the country to be where we are now. Many people doubted us, but I said it from the beginning that you doubt this team at your own expense,” he told the media.

"That is because I see the work that they do on a daily basis. I’m just proud to be part of this team and just to see the character of how the boys are willing to learn, grow, and to fight because we never had this fight [before].

"That’s what I love, and you could see it on the field, and that’s what will push us all the way," Williams concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

The immediate assignment for Masandawana will be on Sunday against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semi-final at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

It will be a massive game, considering the fact that they have won the last three assignments across all competitions.

They will then start preparations for the Caf Champions League semi-final outing against the defending champions Al Ahly.
