Marumo Gallants boosted their survival chances with a 2-1 win over TS Galaxy on Sunday at Mbombela Stadium.
The determined visitors scored the opening goal in the second minute when Masindi Nemtajela found the back of the net.
They doubled their lead in the 56th minute when Daniel Msendami, with an assist from Mlungisi Khumalo, scored.
The win propelled Gallants to the 12th position, and they now have 25 points from 23 games. Galaxy, who would have seen them overtake Stellenbosch with a win over Gallants, remain in fourth place.

Polokwane City 3-1 Richards Bay
At the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, Polokwane City ended a eight-match winless run across all competitions after beating Richards Bay 3-1.
Lebohang Nkaki grabbed a brace for Rise and Shine, who got the other goal from Mokibelo Ramabu, while the visitors' consolation came from Justice Figuareido.
Despite collecting maximum points, Pokokwane City remain sixth on the table, while Richards Bay are now 13th.

Magesi 1-0 Stellenbosch
Mamelodi Sundowns forward Thabang Sibanyoni rose from the bench to grab the all-important goal for Magesi FC to beat Stellenbosch 1-0 at Seshego Stadium on Saturday.
It was a high-stakes encounter as Magesi continued with their rise under Owen da Gama and climbed two rungs up the ladder to the 11th position.
Stellenbosch remain third on the table after succumbing to their first defeat after a seven-match unbeaten run.

Chippa United recorded their second straight Premier Soccer League win after edging AmaZulu 2-1 at Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday.
Mid-season Zambian signing Enock Sakala opened the scoring for the Chilli Boys after 19 minutes before Craig Martin extended the hosts' lead in the 36th minute.
But Tshepang Moremni pulled a goal back for Usuthu a minute before the halftime break.
Despite collecting maximum points, Chippa remain ninth on the standings but now with a point fewer than Kaizer Chiefs.
It was a third consecutive league defeat for AmaZulu who are also unmoved at position seven.
