    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Pitso Mosimane was appointed as Esteghlal coach late in October last year.

    The team had started the season badly, and his experience was needed to save them from going down.

    In the last 11 games across all competitions, the Capital Blues had suffered a single defeat.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Despite his achievement and vision for Esteghlal, Mosimane and his technical team members have gone for months without pay.

    A couple of days ago, the club was given a Tuesday, January 28 ultimatum to pay their debt.

    However, the club failed to settle the celebrated South African, prompting him to take action.

  • WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

    "Coach Dr Pitso Mosimane leaves his Club Esteghlal FC due to reported non-payment," the tactician's legal team told MSW.

    "You are herein granted a 10-day deadline to disburse the full value of the employment contracts together with the appropriate interests for late payment or we shall immediately and without further notice seek redress before the FIFA judicial bodies," read part of the demand letter to the club.

    WHAT NEXT?

    Reports have it that the club officials are working hard to ensure Mosimane is paid in time to avoid his departure.

    It will be interesting to see if Mosimane and his team can reverse their mind and continue working in Iran.
