    WHAT HAPPENED?

Pitso Mosimane parted ways with Esteghlal after 14 games in charge due to the club’s financial struggles led to unpaid wages.

He recorded three wins, seven draws, and four losses, despite early struggles, he was finding form before leaving. The financial dispute forced an early exit with Mosimane citing that he had to make the move away from the club to protect his brand.

His representatives are working to recover unpaid dues and are currently busy with the world football governing body in order to get a remedy for the situation.

    WHAT MOIRA SAID

“I don’t know, really,” Tlhagale said s reported by iDiski Times.

“You think people are settling, the coach is focused on the work and by the time you wake up, you realise there are stories after stories of [non] payments. And then at some point we said ‘we can’t go on like this’.

“And that is how it happened. Why it happened, if anybody knows, I’d appreciate being told why something like that would happen.”

“From a FIFA process point of view, there are certain steps we need to take, you know” added the agent.

“It says once you’ve terminated, the requirement is to ask them to pay all the outstanding fees, or then you go to FIFA. We are actually about to lodge a claim with FIFA”.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With Mosimane ruling out a return to the PSL, his next move remains a subject of speculation. In the past, his name has been linked with several national teams, with rumours suggesting interest from countries in Africa and the Middle East.

The fact that he chose to protect his brand raised concerns with the former owner of Esteghlal, who even went further to question Mosimane's coaching credentials.

However, for a coach to work without payments, it takes professionalism, and that is what Mosimane has built his reputation on.

He boasts success in Africa and the Middle East, having won promotion with Al Ahli Saudi, and his track record continues to attract global interest.

Despite this, he is not eyeing PSL jobs, as he stated in a radio interview, and is currently prioritising his football schools project, where he has more than 100 coaches. While his next move remains uncertain, it’s only a matter of time before a top job comes calling.
