The Cairo Derby encounter which features two of the biggest football clubs in Egypt took place at Cairo International Stadium.There were no goals in the first-half which had few chances and coach Marcel Koller decided to make changes in the 73rd minute pulling out Tau who was replaced&nbsp;by Omar Kamal while Mohamed Magdy replaced Amr El SoliaMagdy proved to be an inspiring substitute as the man nicknamed Afsha set up Emam Ashour who netted in the 89th minute to hand Al Ahly a late lead with the White Knights' defence exposed.The goal rattled Zamalek's backline which saw Afsha then sealed Al Ahly's 2-0 victory when the attacking midfielder hit the back of the net in stoppage time with his partner-in-crime Ashour providing the assist.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The win saw Al Ahly complete a 2022/23 treble as the Koller's side also clinched the Egyptian Premier League title and Caf Champions League trophy last season.It is Tau's eighth major trophy triumph since he joined the African football powerhouse from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion in 2021.The man nicknamed the Lion of Judah now boasts of two Egyptian Cup winners' medals.

Tau and his Ahly teammates will now turn their attention to the Egyptian Premier League as they play catch-up in the North African country's top flight.The Red Eagles will be away to National Bank of Egypt SC on Sunday with the African champions currently placed 10th on the league standings - nine points behind leaders, ENPPI.However, Al Ahly have eight games in hand as the decorated club looks to go all the way and win a 44th record-extending Egyptian Premier League title this term.
