    WHAT HAPPENED?

Premier Soccer League side made a shocking resolution to terminate the contract of midfielder Vincent Pule a couple of days ago.

It is a decision that has received a fair share of criticism from the stakeholders since the 32-year-old has massive quality and experience.

Former Bucs coach Teboho Moloi is convinced the Sea Robbers made a sound verdict that will benefit the Soweto giants in the long run.

    WHAT MOLOI SAID

"Let me tell you, you know Orlando Pirates is my team; they have got a rich history and understand players," the 43-year-old said as quoted by Far Post.

"People have their own opinions, but let me tell you something; I don’t remember a time when Pirates did something wrong. They have done it before, they have always done it. So the decision they took on Pule is for the best of the club.

"You always hear people saying different things about the team. Some are saying Relebohile [Mofokeng] must not go, he must stay at Pirates, and some are saying Vincent Pule should have stayed," Moloi concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Pule - who had a year remaining with Pirates, struggled for consistency in the concluded campaign, managing just 11 club appearances across all competitions.

During his six-year stay at Pirates, Pule won three MTN8 crowns and two Nedbank titles before coach Jose Riveiro decided to let him leave.

    WHAT NEXT?

The experienced midfielder has a couple of seasons left in South African top-flight football and will be hoping to get a new team soon.

It is interesting to see whether the likes of Sekhukhune United and Stellenbosch - who have a Caf Confederation Cup ticket, will consider having him.
