    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates hope to challenge for the Premier Soccer League next season and have a say in the MTN8, Carling Knockout, and Nedbank Cup.

The Buccaneers have also qualified for the Caf Champions League.

Their traditional rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, make a return to the Caf competitions. They will play in the Caf Confederation Cup by virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup.

Amakhosi will also be hoping to have a better domestic campaign than the 2024-25 one.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It explains why the Soweto giants will be signing players to strengthen their squad.

One player who has been linked with a move to either Chiefs or Pirates is Marumo Gallants attacker Daniel Msendami.

The Zimbabwe international scored three goals and two assists in the 25 Premier Soccer League games he played.

However, at 24, he has a lot to offer, explaining why Amakhosi and Bucs want him.

Former Glamour Boys keeper Daniel Akpeyi has advised the attacker against making decisions he might end up regretting.

    WHAT AKPEYI SAID

“[Msendami] is such an amazing player, young and ambitious, but it is at this stage that he has to be cautious, these are make-or-break situations for a young player like him,” he said as quoted by FARPost.

“I believe he is one of the few players who can fit in any team in the PSL and even beyond.

"You can see with his humility and how he respects older people that he is a person willing to learn and develop," Akpeyi added.

"Moreover, his work ethic is also something that makes him exceptional. Even when he doesn’t make the match day squad, he remains jovial and happy for the one preferred that day.

“That is the kind of player any coach or teammate wants to have, someone who wants to learn and at the same time is supportive of his mates. Zimbabwe has a gem in Daniel Msendami," he concluded.
