Who starred and who shied away in the A-League decider?

Melbourne Victory have sealed a fourth A-League championship after grinding past Newcastle Jets 1-0 at McDonald Jones Stadium.

It wasn't the most glamorous performance from either side but Victory showed plenty of guts with their keeper Lawrence Thomas stealing the show in goals.

Check out every player's rating below.

  • Nigel Boogaard Newcastle Jets

    Nigel Boogaard

    Rating: 6/10

Gave away the foul leading to Victory's goal, but did well considering he had overcome what was meant to be a season-ending injury.

  • Daniel Georgievski Newcastle Jets

    Daniel Georgievski

    Rating: 6/10

Withdrawn with 20 minutes to go as the Jets looked to grab an equaliser with the former Victory man not as effective as usual moving forward.

  • Ronald Vargas Newcastle Jets

    Ronald Vargas

    Rating: 7/10

A very lively first half from the midfielder who didn't put a foot wrong, but he was very quiet in the second and was subbed just after an hour.

  • Steven Ugarkovic Newcastle Jets

    Steven Ugarkovic

Never steals the limelight but went about his business in the middle of the park without much fuss.

  • Riley McGree Newcastle Jets

    Riley McGree

    Rating: 7/10

A spark in attack and had a fierce effort saved in the first half which would've beaten most keepers.

  • Dimi Petratos Newcastle Jets

A brave 90 minutes undone by a shocking foul on Lawrence Thomas in injury time which saw him sent to the stands.

Champness and Rodriquez both provided menacing moments but failed to make an impact.
  • Lawrence Thomas

    Lawrence Thomas

A performance worthy of a championship and Joe Marston medal. A ridiculous double save in the first half and real bravery in the second as he played on after copping a big kick from O'Donovan.

Another brilliant free-kick led to Victory's goal and he didn't take a step back on the big stage.

Answered his critics last week and can't be faulted for his efforts tonight.

    Besart Berisha

    Rating: 7/10

Didn't get another goal in a grand final but led the frontline with his usual confidence and held the ball up well.
