Ramos Ufficiale Milan

Milan, Amorim: “Ramos? We need to spend more time in the box; if we only put crosses in, it’s difficult”

One of the early problems in AC Milan season has been the limited impact of Goncalo Ramos. The Portuguese striker, who arrived from Psg for a huge fee (€74 million the final price), has managed just one goal in 4 matches so far. More worrying, though, is that AC Milan are not creating the chances he needs to get on the scoresheet.

Speaking to DAZN, Ruben Amorim discussed him and how best to pick him out with passes.

  • "I think we need to spend more time closer to the penalty area. We spend a lot of time on the ball, but far from the area. We need to push the team forward and we need to create even more connections inside the box. Instead, we get there almost only through crosses. And sometimes, if you rely only on crosses, you can put in as many as you want, but it becomes difficult for the striker. So we need to have variations in the way we get into the penalty area: sometimes with runs towards the corner from Pulisic or Cisse breaking forward, then Ramos can have more opportunities to touch the ball. But Ramos too is destined to improve over the course of the season."
