Former Fifa referee Victor Hlungwani has cleared the air around the controversial circumstances leading to Orlando Pirates' 4-0 victory over Royal AM on Sunday.The Buccaneers' first goal came after Patrick Maswanganyi was adjudged to have been fouled inside the penalty box. But Hlungwani argues it was not a legitimate penalty as video replays suggest that the Pirates attacker was tripped outside the box.

WHAT HAPPENED?

"I don't know whether it was manna from heaven," Hlungwani said on SABC Sport.&nbsp;"But here we can establish&nbsp;here&nbsp;on SoccerZone that an infringement happened outside the penalty area."Yes, Maswanganyi&nbsp;was tripped, a&nbsp;freekick&nbsp;was supposed to&nbsp;be given. Let's see if it happened inside or outside the box.&nbsp;"Can you see the tripping there? There are almost 12 centimetres that show it happened outside the box," continued the former PSL referee."So, a penalty was not supposed to be given here. The latest incident comes hot on the heels of two controversial officiating instances involving Pirates games against AmaZulu.The first was when the Buccaneers came from behind to beat Usuthu 4-2 in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals. Pirates' first goal came from a penalty after Taariq Fielies appeared to have fouled Makhehlene Makhaula inside the box.
