    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile has come forward to explain his celebration of the goal he scored during the Caf Champions League match against AS FAR Rabat on Sunday.

After scoring in the Brazilians' draw with AS FAR at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, the 31-year-old wheeled to celebrate where he made a gesture with his hand that resembled a 'keep quiet' gesture.

His celebration ignited a buzz on social media, with some suggesting it was related to a potential transfer since Shalulile had been linked with leaving the Tshwane club in recent weeks.

However, Shalulile clarified that his celebration had nothing to do with a potential departure from the club and revealed that it was meant to reflect a specific scripture from the Bible.

    WHAT SHALULILE SAID

"No, there is no message behind the celebration," Shalulile said, as quoted by KickOff.com.

"It's about scripture. It's the reason behind it. It's not about anyone, it's not for anyone.

"I don't do those types of things for people, but because there is a scripture that says, 'Be still and know that I am God'."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Shalulile, whose contract with Sundowns is set to expire at the end of the season, although it includes an option for an additional two years, has consistently been linked with teams in the Middle East and North Africa.

Some local reports have suggested that the goal-poacher is looking for a way out of the Chloorkop-based giants as the club seems to be heading in a different direction under the leadership of sporting director Flemming Berg.

So far, Shalulile has netted six goals across all competitions for Miguel Cardoso's star-studded team. Considering his recent form, it seems very improbable that Downs would allow him to leave.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SHALULILE?

It is yet to be determined if Sundowns will permit Shalulile to depart during this transfer window, which closes next week on Tuesday.

The Namibia international will aim to prove his doubters wrong when Downs face off against Magesi FC in a PSL match this evening.
