    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Cape Town City forward Khanyisa Mayo joined Algerian side CR Belouizdad in August amid reported interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

    WHAT MAYO SAID

“There was a good chance of that happening, Mayo told Soccerbeat as per iDiksi Times.

“What occurred was, when I had just signed the contract with CRB, that’s when Chiefs came knocking and said they were willing to take out this amount of money for me.

“It was just one hour, we had just submitted the CRB documents.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Now in Algeria, Mayo is struggling to replicate the form that saw him being a PSL top goal-scorer for two consecutive seasons.

He is yet to find the back of the net for CR Belouizdad in nine games across all competitions.

His struggle for form has kept him away from the Bafana Bafana fold, having already found it difficult to play international football even when he was in top form for Cape Town City.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MAYO?

Pressure is still on Mayo to break his goal-scoring drought for Belouizdad when they resume competitive action after the current Fifa break.

The Algerians visit MC Alger for Ligue 1 match on November 20 before hosting Orlando Pirates in a Caf Champions League match six days later.
