Kaizer Chiefs youngster Thulani Mabaso recalls warning from Thabo Cele ahead of new season - 'Mentality must be different'

Kaizer Chiefs camped in the Netherlands from July 3 to 19, playing several top games against Dutch teams.

They managed a win and lost the remaining four games, as coach Nasreddine Nabi gave most of his players a chance to prove their worth.

The fans had an opportunity to look at some of the new players the club has signed.

One of the players who shone in the Netherlands is Thulani Mabaso.

Despite his tender age, the central midfielder was excellent in ball-handling, making the right decisions at the right time despite playing against more experienced players.

However, it was not the only lesson he learned; Mabaso has revealed the discussion he had with Thabo Cele, and the piece of advice he received.

"I was talking to Thabo Cele, and he explained to me, 'The pre-season games are over. Now we need to win!'," the 19-year-old told the Chiefs' media team.

"The mentality must be different. We all want to win that game, because if we win, we make our people happy - the family, the fans.

"I feel we are ready. We want to bring back the glory days of Kaizer Chiefs," Mabaso concluded.

Mabaso is expected to get chances to show his worth like Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi, Wandile Duba and other Amakhosi graduates.

He has no option but to deliver if he really intends to break into the first team.
