    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has said he is surprised by the rumours linking him with an exit from the Premier Soccer League side.

Nabi said his focus is on the remaining league games, which he says Amakhosi must win. The tactician wants his charges to use the success witnessed in the Nedbank Cup to help them maintain the winning momentum.

    WHAT WAS SAID?

“I’m very surprised about these rumours because we’re concentrated on the remaining two games,” Nabi told MSW on Monday night, as per FARPost.

“I don’t want to lose the momentum that the cup has created. I still have a contract. I’m not worried about that [exit reports]. I don’t think this is the best time to discuss this.”

“We need to play these games with a final attitude, with a final spirit, because it’s very important for a top-eight finish. I want to finish in the top eight," he added.

“We have to concentrate on the remaining two games. We want our players to remain focused and maintain a positive attitude for the remaining two games."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Nabi has been calling for patience as he builds the Amakhosi team. The former Young Africans head coach has always talked about the project that he believes will ultimately turn the Naturena outfit into a competitive side.

The Nedbank Cup win is expected to earn him more trust, given that he has managed to end the decade-long trophy drought in his maiden season with the Glamour Boys.

Indeed, he is expected to be in charge next season after Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. dismissed rumours that the Tunisian will leave Chiefs.

    WHAT NEXT FOR NABI?

Amakhosi have two games remaining to wrap up their season. They have a trip to Polokwane, where they will play Sekhukhune United on May 17 before hosting Polokwane City on May 24.

All these games are must-win matches for the Glamour Boys if they have to boost their chances of finishing in the top eight.
