    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Motaung Jr. has dismissed rumours suggesting that Nasreddine Nabi will be leaving Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season.

Despite an inconsistent league campaign, Chiefs managed to end a decade-long trophy drought by defeating bitter rivals Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final.

While many believed Nabi’s job was in jeopardy due to poor domestic form, Motaung Jr. confirmed that the Tunisian mentor still has another season at the club.

He urged supporters, players, and the technical team to remain united and focused on the bigger mission.

He also emphasised that building a winning culture requires time, trust, and continuity.

The club believes that this cup triumph is more than just a trophy—it’s the spark that could ignite a new era under Nabi’s leadership.

    WHAT MOTAUNG SAID

“Coach has got another season after this with us now,” he told Xoli Zondo on 5fm on Monday morning, as reported by iDiski Times.

“At the same time, like we do after every season, we sit down and review. We know that the results in the league have been inconsistent.

“We know we’ve just been able to achieve a record milestone. With everything else, we’re moving forward in our planning, and we want to savour this moment, view this moment in a massive way moving forward.

“Galvanise the supporters, galvanise the technical team, the players, the staff for the mission ahead. So, we’re just planning for the future.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs can use the momentum from their Nedbank Cup triumph to build a new era under Nabi. Winning this trophy has not only ended a painful 10-year drought but also bought the Tunisian coach valuable time and credibility with both management and supporters.

Nabi has expressed his commitment to completing the long-term project he began with the club, and this success gives him the breathing room needed to implement his vision.

Chiefs’ hierarchy believes that consistency in leadership is crucial to restoring the club’s identity and dominance in South African football. With patience, belief, and continued support, this could mark the beginning of a golden chapter for the Glamour Boys.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

The final two league fixtures are crucial for Chiefs as they push to secure a top-eight finish.

Currently sitting in ninth place, Amakhosi must climb the table to ensure qualification for next season’s MTN8 competition.

Their upcoming clash against Sekhukhune United is a must-win showdown that could define the tone of their campaign’s end and influence the momentum heading into next season.
