Kaizer Chiefs' Ntseki feeling robbed by the referee as Mamelodi Sundowns coach Mokwena basks in flooring both Soweto giants

Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki was left with a lot to discuss following Saturday's 2-1 MTN8 semi-final, second-leg defeat by Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

It was an eventful match which first saw Amakhosi goalkeeper Brandon Petersen making a costly blunder early in the match.

Towards the death, Chiefs thought they deserved a penalty after Thapelo Maseko appeared to have kicked Mduduzi Mdantsane inside the box.

But for Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena, it was a fruitful week which saw them beat Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League, before overcoming another Soweto giants Chiefs.

GOAL gives you raw quotes by Ntseki and Mokwena as they reacted to the match.

'Petersen could have done better' - Ntseki

“I think we’ve had moments like this because I normally say, if you look at the last mistake, in this case when you talk of Brandon, that mistake started somewhere – a mistake can be technical or tactical and also mental,” Ntseki as per iDiski Times.

“If you look at the situation, when we started playing, it was more of a tactical ploy, but we knew that it would be putting us under pressure, in addressing the situation, he could have done better, but he was fully aware our tactical ploy that didn’t work on the day."

Everyone should shoulder the blame for Petersen's howler

“If it was a tactical ploy, it was not his mistake, it’s a mistake we all made and we own up," said Ntseki.

"But the most important thing with Brandon, he’s a leader, a very strong person. Even with us, we’re not looking to say it was your mistake.

“It was a mistake that happened, we did not respect and observe the critical phases of the game because we had to start on the front foot, if it was played forward, it was starting the game on the front foot – but it didn’t happen and we ended up conceding.

“So it doesn’t mean we have so many fingers pointed each other.”

“Unfortunately we can’t change that decision but one can tell it was a penalty,” said Ntseki on SuperSport TV.

“It was a penalty because he tackled him from behind and that’s a penalty, it’s inside the box. There is contact inside the box, it’s supposed to be a penalty.

“But unfortunately Kaizer Chiefs is on the losing side and Sundowns won this game when we were supposed to get a penalty.”

Beating Pirates & Chiefs in one week gets Mokwena excited

“Something we should never take for granted, not many teams, or Sundowns teams have been able to beat Chiefs and Pirates in the same week, let alone in the space of four days," said Mokwena as per iDiski Times.

“So congratulations to this fantastic group, the game of football belongs to them. As Mamelodi Sundowns we are very fortunate to have this group of players.”

'We can trust each other in difficult moments' - Mokwena

“I would hope it has incredible benefits in a sense that a trust starts to develop, that we can trust each other in difficult moments and we can trust each other in difficult games,” Mokwena said.

“But it’s only three points on Wednesday and a place in the final, nothing more than that – that’s the reality. So as much as we celebrate its enormity, and really, really it is."
