    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs’ marketing director, Jessica Motaung, has said head coach Nasreddine Nabi has the support of the club despite a poor run of results.

The pressure on Nabi has been growing, especially after the recent Premier Soccer League 2-0 loss to struggling Richards Bay before the international break.

While assuring Nabi of the club's support, Motaung also asked the supporters to be patient and to keep supporting the team.

    WHAT MOTAUNG SAID

“I think all I can say is we have a technical team, we have a coach, they’re doing the work, and they have the support to do the work," Motaung said.

“We obviously know that this is a long game. We didn’t get into this thinking we’d have quick results. But certainly, I think the lessons are there. The analysis is there. The football team is working well with the coaches to ensure that things that must be addressed are addressed.

“And my encouragement to the supporters is to support the team and ensure we make it to the finish line for the season. But there is a lot of learning and a need for more consistency. And there’s work behind the scenes to ensure that is done," she concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Motaung's assurance comes days after Chiefs' legend Zebulon Nhlapo asked the club to stick with the Tanzania Premier League-winning coach.

Amakhosi have experienced recent campaigns without titles, and this season, the realistic trophy they can lay their hands on is the Nedbank Cup. Amakhosi are in the semis, although they are yet to learn their opponent.

The Soweto giants will face the winner between Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United.

    WHAT NEXT FOR NABI?

With the club assuring him support, the ball is now in Nabi's court to rally his players and ensure they return to winning ways.

After the international break, Chiefs will face Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
