    WHAT HAPPENED?

Thembinkosi Lorch struggled to make an impact at Mamelodi Sundowns after a shock move from Orlando Pirates in January 2024.

Then club's coach Rhulani Mokwena felt the experienced versatile attacker would improve the team.

However, Mokwena's exit did not work in Lorch's favour. He ended up making just seven appearances for the Brazilians, across all competitions, in the ongoing campaign.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Coach Manqoba Mngqithi used Lorch sparingly when he took over from Mokwena.

It was the same case with his successor Miguel Cardoso.

Lorch read the signs and opted for a move to Morocco to join former coach Mokwena until the end of the season.

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo is not fully convinced that 'Nyoso' made a good decision.

    WHAT KHUMALO SAID

“It’s a very awkward atmosphere, will it be positive for him or what? But as a South African, I just wish him the best of luck, he’s a good player and I hope and wish that he will be treated well in Morocco," Khumalo told Soccerzone.

    WHAT NEXT?

Cassius Mailula has settled well in Morocco and is now one of the key players for Mokwena.
Lorch has to prove he still has what it takes to deliver at the highest level despite his doubters thinking otherwise.
