    WHAT HAPPENED?

    After hanging up his boots, Kaizer Chiefs legend Reneilwe Letsholonyane pursued his coaching badges, earning a CAF A License. 

    Now at 43, the former Amakhosi fan-favourite has stepped into a new chapter as the newly appointed head coach of Matebele FC in Botswana. Officially unveiled by the club, ‘Yeye’ will be eager to embrace the challenge and make his mark in the Botswana Premier League.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Before his Botswana move, Letsholonyane gained experience as AmaZulu’s reserve team coach and later served as assistant coach for South Africa’s CHAN squad during their recent campaign in Uganda. 

    Since 2023, he has also been part of SAFA’s technical setup, working as the South Africa U20 national team assistant coach.

    WHAT’S NEXT?

    Freshly unveiled as head coach, Letsholonyane has the FIFA international break to settle in and prepare his squad. 

    His first test comes on Saturday, 13 September, when Matebele FC face Owen da Gama’s Black Lions.
