Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson has issued a fitness update of his camp ahead of Thursday's PSL clash with Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium. Fresh from last Saturday's 2-1 victory over SuperSport United, Amakhosi returned into the top eight and are pushing to claim a top-four position. But those ambitions could be dented by the Brazilians who saw Peter Shalulile finding his scoring touch to fire a brace in the 3-0 win over TS Galaxy on Monday.

WHAT HAPPENED?

“We still have Itu out, we still have Keagan out – they all came back with heavy flu,” Johnson said as per <a href="https://www.idiskitimes.co.za/dstv-premiership/johnson-four-chiefs-stars-out-of-sundowns-clash/" target="_blank">iDiski Times.</a>“Potsane is still out, George is still out. Mshini started training but then he went back again a little bit, so we don’t know how far he is. That’s about it. But the rest of the team all look good.“I think it’s it’s a major game for us. We’re at FNB and we’ve just&nbsp;come &nbsp;off&nbsp;a good&nbsp;win against SuperSport," the Amakhosi caretaker trainer added. “But in doing this we prepared our team to go out, it’s our home game and we want to end the season off on a strong note. &nbsp;“And whatever games we have left to play, they’re all Cup finals. That’s what&nbsp;was&nbsp;our message is out – to go there and play another cup final, finishing the season,” he concluded.

WHAT JOHNSON SAID

While Chiefs are without their four players, they come up against Masandawana who brag about the depth of their team. So large is the Brazilians' pool of players to the extent that they fielded a completely different first XI against Sekhukhune from the team that faced Esperance in both legs of the Caf Champions League.This presents Johnson with a test to try and cope without some of his men who could influence any game.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Amakhosi are now finalising their preparations for the Masandawana game which is key in shaping how they end the season. Mathematically, the Soweto giants still have a chance to finish the term in the PSL top four although it appears to be a tall order.
