    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove has defended his coach Nasreddine Nabi, who has been under immeasurable pressure due to a poor run in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Dove said there is no point in blaming Nabi alone because even the players should be held responsible for the struggle experienced.

    WHAT DOVE SAID

“In a team, we should all be held accountable because at the end of the day, the coach is there to give us whatever tools, but at the end of the day, we have the responsibility of delivering on the field," Dove told FARPost.

“So we can’t blame one side [the coach] and leave the other [players] because we’re a group and always talk about unity and being together. If the team loses, we all lose.

“If the team wins, we all win. There are certain things that are not in my power to talk about, but I think we’re all in this boat together. We should continue being together," the defender added.

    WHAT IS MORE

Dove said that although it would be easier to single out one person for the poor run, that should not be the case.

“Now it’s so easy to point fingers and say it’s the coach or the players, but we all need time to put our ideas into place and implement our philosophy," the Mozambican continued.

“I think he has done that quite well and probably just needs a bit more time to work on what he needs to work on with the gents. Hopefully, he can be the person that brings this club to where it belongs," he stated.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Heading into the crucial games against Orlando Pirates, Chiefs are in poor form, having conceded yet another defeat in the Premier Soccer League.

The Glamour Boys went down to Marumo Gallants, marking their 11th defeat of the season, and they are winless in six games. This has just escalated the pressure on Nabi, who has now been defended by one of his regular starters.

Although Amakhosi are struggling in the league, they can motivate themselves with the fact that they eliminated an otherwise strong Mamelodi Sundowns to set the Nedbank Cup final against Pirates.

    WHAT'S NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi will host Pirates for a league duel on May 3 at the FNB Stadium before the cup final on May 10 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, where they have also been designated as the home team.

These are crucial games for both Pirates and Chiefs, mainly because of the historical rivalry between them and, of course, the trophy involved.
