    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs lost their ninth Premier Soccer League game last weekend when they fell 2-0 against Richards Bay.

It was a blow to the Glamour Boys who are keen to get their MTN8 ticket for the new campaign.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Coach Nasreddine Nabi was brought on board at the beginning of the season to help Amakhosi rise again.

They are in the Nedbank Cup semi-final where they are scheduled to play either Sekhukhune United or Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, they have to get consistency in the PSL where they have so far won eight games, drawn five, and lost nine of the 22 matches played.

Richards Bay coach Papi Zothwane is convinced that Chiefs, just like their rivals Orlando Pirates, will get back to where they believe they belong, at the helm of Mzansi football.

    WHAT ZOTHWANE SAID

“In my observation and opinion, I might be wrong, but Chiefs has got good players,” he told the media.

“They’ve got good players, it’s just that maybe it’s a phase or a patch where things are not happening.

“But they’ve got good personnel, sometimes things don’t work out and it has happened to many teams like [Orlando] Pirates.

“So maybe it’s happening to them but in terms of quality I think they have got quality it’s just that maybe things aren’t happening how they’d like," Zothwane concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

With the signings they have made, it will be embarrassing for Chiefs to fail to make the top eight in the Premier Soccer League by the end of the ongoing campaign.

However, the biggest achievement for the club will be to end the decade-long trophy drought that has put the team and all associated with them under immense pressure.
