    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has identified what he thinks is Rushwin Dortley's biggest weakness.

Dortley is enjoying regular football in his debut season at Amakhosi and has managed to turn himself into a key Bafana Bafana defender.

    WHAT KHUNE SAID

“He needs to work on his confidence… but Dortley you can’t write him off now, he know he is dealing with on the bench, Siya Ngezana is waiting, Sibisi, Kekana,” Khune said as per iDiski Times.

“We don’t want a repeat of what happened to our number two Veli Mothwa, where you are given an opportunity and it’s like you were not ready for it, you always need to be ready.

“When you’re called upon to do the job for the nation, you must be ready. And I don’t want the same situation repeating with Mothwa with Dortley.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In the Bafana Bafana set-up, Dortley has managed to be selected in the lineup ahead of Nkosinathi Sibisi, Siyabonga Ngezana and Grant Kekana, who was not selected in the squad this time around.

At Chiefs, Dortley has managed to condemn Given Msimango and Thatayaone Dotlhokwe to the bench.

However, with Chiefs conceding goals in almost every game as well as a shaky performance in Bafana colours, he risks being sidelined.

    WHAT NEXT FOR DORTLEY?

After helping Bafana to a clean sheet against Uganda on Friday, Dortley is expected to start again when South Africa host South Sudan in their final Group K game on Tuesday.

He is also expected to continue as a starter when Amakhosi resume their Premier Soccer League campaign by hosting Richards Bay on November 27.
