Injury scare for Harry Kane as Bayern Munich striker is immediately subbed off after crashing into post during history-making game for England captain

After the England captain made history for scoring the most goals in a debut Bundesliga season, the striker had to be helped from the pitch with Bayern 4-1 up against Darmstadt after crashing into the frame of the goal. The German giants went onto win the game 5-2 and after the match, manager Thomas Tuchel provided an update on Kane's condition.

After the match, the Bayern manager told reporters: "He [Kane] twisted his ankle in the goal net. He has now completely cooled it with ice. We don't have a diagnosis yet. We have to wait and see and hope that it remains a shock moment."

Bayern Sporting Director Christoph Freund added: "We hope it’s not so bad. He was subbed off as a precaution. He won’t take any risks with the national team."

Bayern have had an underwhelming season by their lofty standards and could fail to pick up a trophy for the first time since the 2011/12 campaign. If Kane, who has arguably been their best player this season, is out for any length of time, that is a huge blow in the Bavarians' bid to win some silverware this term.

Kane's haul in the Bundesliga this season took him past Uwe Seeler's record of 30 goals and now the former Tottenham ace is just 10 off the all-time record of 41, set by ex-Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski in the 2020/21 campaign.

This is Bayern's last game before the international break. For their sake, they will hope Kane, who will head off for international duty for England in the coming days, is not injured as they hope to defend their Bundesliga title and win the Champions League.
