'Not doing that isn't an option' - Harry Kane defying Vincent Kompany's expectations as Bayern Munich boss reveals what makes star striker special

  • Kane continues to set new standards in Germany

Kane is on his way to reaching 100 goals for Bayern Munich after spending just over two years at the club. In the current season, the England captain has already scored 13 goals, including eight in the Bundesliga. The 32-year-old also added the German Supercup to his trophy collection last month.

Kompany hails Kane for defying expectations

Speaking on the Bayern star, Kompany said: "When a player scores so many goals and then wins his first title, you can't always expect him to help defend, to give his all in every training session. Okay, at this absolute top level, maybe. But not everyone can do that. And the fact that Harry, despite all these goals, still helps so much in defense and inspires the others in every training session, of course, makes my job easier. But for him, not doing that isn't an option either."

  • Will Kane leave Bayern Munich next year?

BILD reported earlier this week that there is a £57 million ($77m) release clause in Kane’s contract that can be triggered in the summer of 2026. But for that cut-price fee to become active, the Three Lions skipper must inform the German champions of his intention to leave before the end of the winter transfer window. He has been linked with a move back to the Premier League after the 2025-26 campaign, while Saudi clubs are also reportedly preparing lucrative offers for the Englishman.

Werder Bremen up next for Bayern

After scoring a hat-trick in Bayern's win over Hoffenheim last week, Kane will be back in action this Saturday as Kompany's side take on Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
