Has Harry Kane recovered from back injury? Bayern Munich striker delivers fitness update ahead of bid to win elusive major trophy in 2024-25

England captain Kane endured a frustrating finish to his debut season in Germany, with major silverware falling agonisingly out of reach once again. That theme continued at international level as the Three Lions suffered defeat to Spain in the final of Euro 2024.

Kane claimed a share of the Golden Boot at that competition, but did not look entirely comfortable throughout – with a back problem carried into the tournament. The 31-year-old is now back in the Bayern squad – figuring in a friendly clash with former club Tottenham – and feels raring to go in 2024-25.

The prolific frontman has told Bayern’s official media channels when asked if his back is fully recovered: “Obviously I had that issue towards the end of last season but throughout the Euros it was fine and hasn’t bothered me. So hopefully that one stays away. And I’ve been doing a lot of work in my own time to make sure that stays away. And that’s part of football, the schedules are tough and you have to go through a high physical demand, so you’re always going to have moments where you have to fight through stuff. But so far I feel fit, really ready to go and in good shape.”

Kane hit 44 goals for Bayern across all competitions last season, but was still unable to get his hands on an elusive trophy. The intention is to start righting those wrongs, with Bayern now working under the guidance of new manager Vincent Kompany.
