    WHAT HAPPENED?

Several reports suggest Mabhuti Khenyeza has stepped down from his role as Golden Arrows coach.

He has not been attending the team's training sessions with other reports saying there is a contract dispute between him and the club.

Arrows have since moved in to issue a statement regarding the coach.

    WHAT ARROWS SAID

"Lamontville Golden Arrows Football Club would like to state that Mr Mabhudi Khenyeza has been absent from work for a week," Arrows said in a statement.

"Musa Bilankulu and Kagisho Dikgacoi are in charge of the team. The club will not comment any further on this matter."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Arrows' statement appears to be a closed one and does not state whether or not Khenyeza will be dragged before a disciplinary hearing for the alleged absconding of duty.

The developments at the club could destabilise the team that had picked up momentum in their Premier Soccer League campaign.

Abafana Bes'thende's last three league games are a draw and two wins, a run which left them sixth on the table.

The KZN club has been linked with their former coach Manqoba Mngqithi who recently parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ARROWS?

Abafana Bes'thende will resume their PSL campaign by hosting basement side Richards Bay in a provincial derby at Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday.

It is a match they would not want to be seen being affected by the coaching situation.
