    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi signed two central defenders Inacio Miguel and Rushwin Dortley. They play on the right and left sides at the heart of the defence, respectively.

Dortley arrived at Chiefs after previously being a transfer target of the Soweto giants during the time of Gavin Hunt who is still an admirer of the former Cape Town Spurs captain.

    WHAT HUNT SAID

"Let's be honest, he [Nasreddine Nabi] has had an effect on buying new players and obviously coming with [a new technical team]," Hunt said as per KickOff.

"He has done a great job, I don't think they could have gone worse than last year, let's be honest.

"I mean, we tried to sign Dortley. I tried to sign him three years ago, I think he's the best left-side centre-back in South Africa. He's fantastic. He made the difference against us [in the Carling Knockout].

"He was the best player for them. I mean, he made interceptions, blocks, headers away and he can play."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The arrival of Dortley reduced the prospect of game time for Thatayanone Ditlhokwe who is also a left-sided central defender.

Another player who has also played in that role for Chiefs is Edmilson Dove who is currently injured.

Dove can also play as a left-back and could struggle for playing minutes when he returns as Bradley Cross is the current first-choice wing-back.

    WHAT NEXT FOR DORTLEY?

Chiefs visit Orlando Pirates' Carling Knockout slayers Magesi for their next match on Wednesday and Dortley is expected to continue enjoying himself in his position.

Maintaining his place and getting more game time will also help him keep his Bafana Bafana place.
