    WHAT HAPPENED?

Khama Billiat went back to Zimbabwe to join Yadah FC after declining a downwardly revised contract by Kaizer Chiefs.

His last days at Chiefs were difficult and according to him, it led to him retiring from international football in 2021 before reconsidering his decision in August this year.

    WHAT BILLIATSAID

“It was never an easy decision taking a break but a lot of factors including my club form [at Kaizer Chiefs] had me thinking I needed a break from international football so that I could focus on my club career,” said Billiat as per The Herald.

“A lot wasn’t going the way I wanted. My parents and management team became instrumental in me reconsidering playing international football again as I had a bit of doubt

“I wasn’t really in a good space mentally and physically and I thought I wouldn’t give the nation my all and I was struggling to find a balance between club and international football, added with a bit of chaos that was happening at the national team and me being a senior player I felt the load on my shoulders and I couldn’t balance the football politics with my struggles.”

He is yet to make a big impact since his return to the Zimbabwe national team but is still regarded as a key member of Michael Nees' squad.

It remains to be seen if there are PSL clubs who will officially bid for his signature in the January player transfer window.
