    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have gone for six Premier Soccer League games without winning and that has left them ninth on the table.

It is a run which exerts more pressure on coach Nasreddine Nabi and former Chiefs midfielder Jabu Mahlangu feels it takes confidence away from the players.

Mahlangu does not have trust in coach Nabi whom he urges to psyche up his players ahead of Saturday's Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.

    WHAT MAHLANGU SAID

"In the remaining games, they will go into them lacking confidence first," Mahlangu said on SABC Sport as per KickOff.

"Sekhukhune is doing well, which means they have more confidence than Chiefs. Orlando Pirates have also been doing well, which means they will also have more confidence [on Saturday].

"So, Chiefs are already on the back foot. So, I think at Chiefs right now, as a coach, what are you going to coach? I think now Nabi should just focus on the players' mindset," added the ex-winger who played for both Chiefs and Pirates.

"Because, as far as coaching goes, you spoke about this the whole season, it did not happen. So now, it's important for them to get points to get into the top eight.

"So I think the coaches now have to focus mostly on the psyche of the players, more than the coaching itself."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs are actually left with just three PSL games before the season ends and all their fixtures appear tricky.

They face Soweto rivals Pirates, then Sekhukhune United who are chasing a top-three spot and finally fellow Top 8 competitors Polokwane City.

That could complicate Amakhosi's life given they are a side struggling for consistent results.

WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS & PIRATES?

The two traditional giants are preparing to clash in the Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium on Saturday in a league match.

After that, they will also meet in another derby which will be the Nedbank Cup final.

Once the final is done, both sides will be gunning for maximum points in their remaining fixtures to achieve their season-end targets.
