Dominant Kaizer Chiefs thrash Chippa United to join Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals

Kaizer Chiefs overcame Chippa United 3-0 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening and secured their place in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals.

The Glamour Boys kicked off the match with great energy, and their strong start was rewarded when Gaston Sirino netted in the 12th minute, giving Chiefs an early lead.

The Chilli Boys made every effort to equalize, but the Soweto giants' defense remained strong to block any threats from Chippa's forwards.

Inacio Miguel doubled the lead for the home team, converting a penalty in the 77th minute, and Pule Mmodi added a final goal for Nasreddine Nabi's side in the 89th minute. 

The win at home for the Naturena-based giants meant they joined Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, and a few other teams in the tournament's next round.

Reeve Frosler deserves recognition for his effectiveness and displaying a Man of the Match performance throughout the entire 90 minutes. 

The defender provided an assist on the night, aiding Sirino in scoring Amakhosi's opening goal.

Thabo September should be concerned after losing a second consecutive match following a defeat to TS Galaxy in a PSL game last Saturday.

Chippa's owner, Chippa Mpengesi, is known for firing coaches, so the former SuperSport United academy coach should be worried.

Chiefs will learn their opponents in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals during the draw ceremony on Monday, February 17.

In the meantime, Amakhosi and Chippa will shift their attention to their upcoming PSL matches against SuperSport United and Cape Town City, respectively.
