Orlando Pirates legend Eugene Zwane has discussed the kind of coach the Premier Soccer League side should go for.

Analysing how Riveiro came, perception around him, and how he eventually performed at Pirates, Zwane believes the Sea Robbers need a tough and experienced coach.

"I think they need somebody experienced; if they are not experienced, they should be tough! I think that's the thing with Riveiro; when he came, he was soft-spoken, he's young, and people thought, 'Ah, this guy is a softie," Zwane told Soccer Laduma.

"They started labelling him a plumber and so on. What they didn't know was that this guy behind the scenes was very tough! Very tough with the players, and that's what Pirates need (in search of a new coach)," he added.

"A big team like the Pirates needs a very strong character in the changing room. I think the Pirates know that. They've had local coaches given a chance, but they were just not able to deliver."

"They know what needs to be done; that's why we hear talk of very experienced local coaches or very experienced coaches from abroad that are in the running for the job. I think the management understands that very well," the former Bucs defender added.

Rhulani Mokwena has been massively linked with a return to the Soweto giants, and his free agent status has made this speculation go even more viral.

The Sea Robbers are in the process of replacing Jose Riveiro, a coach who won a total of five trophies with the Soweto giants. That means they must be careful in order to select one who is capable of doing even better than the Spaniard.

Some have also pointed out that the right man to take over at Pirates is the experienced Premier Soccer League and Champions League winner, Pitso Mosimane. His experience and winning credentials make him an ideal choice.

After missing out on the PSL, Nedbank Cup, and Champions League titles, the Sea Robbers are expected to strengthen the playing unit.

In addition, they will need the right tactician to take charge of that ambitious and strengthened squad. Fans are waiting with bated breath to see who will be the next coach.
